Triple J's Hottest 100 - Top 14 Prediction
Everyone has thrown in their two cents worth about who they think will be victorious in this year's Triple J's Hottest 100. But there is one main thing people are saying…and that's: Fuck You.
Cee Lo Green had much of a hype in 2010 with his single Fuck You. The song has had an overwhelming amount of airplay on triple j as well as other radio stations including Nova 969. If this song DOES become #1, which I'm not saying it necessarily will, then that will be the second year running that the number one song has featured the word 'FUCK'.
My theory: It's liberating to be able to a sing a song that features a swear word. And so people seem to be attracted to that notion of singing and swearing without a cause.
Cee Lo Green is also the front-runner on SportsBet with $3 towards his name (last checked 13/1/11), Angus and Julia Stone's Big Jet Plane is closely behind with $3.50.
But let us stop and think for a moment. Back in 2006, Crazy by Gnarls Barkley (Cee Lo Green's previous musical project) was tipped to be victorious, as it had that same snappy ear-worm effect on the Australian public. However, it only came in at number 6, which came as a shock to both triple j presenters and fans.
So with this in mind, here is what I believe Triple J's Hottest 100 Top 14 will look like.
1. Angus & Julia Stone - Big Jet Plane
2. Duck Sauce - Barbra Streisand
3. Pendulum - ABC News Theme Remix
4. Cee Lo Green - Fuck You
5. Arcade Fire - Ready To Start
6. Birds of Tokyo - Plans
7. Little Red - Rock It
8. Ou Est Le Swimming Pool - Dance the Way I Feel
9. Tame Impala - Solitude is Bliss
10. Darwin Deez - Radar Detector
11. Sia - Clap Your Hands
12. John Butler Trio - Revolution
13. The Aston Shuffle - Your Love
14. Bliss N Eso - Down by the River
Everyone's had their fair share of predictions. That's mine.
